Wreaths Across America - Cabela's Dec 8 2:30PM

"Cabela's has asked me to reach out to all of our area Veterans organizations to invite everyone to join Cabela's at 2:30PM on Sunday December 8th for the Wreaths Across America ceremony to send our Wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. The wreaths will be placed at Arlington this December 14th on National Wreaths Across America Day."

Hello Sgt. Murphy,

Thank you so much for helping us out with this event at such short notice. Below is the tentative timeline we have put together. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated and this timeline is very flexible to what is convenient to your schedule.

Items we would love help with include:
A keynote speaker -we have a full script available for him to use and ideally it would be the highest ranking officer available.
Color Guard and/or Honor Guard
Horse drawn carriage
A trumpet player to play TAPS at the end of the ceremony

Timeline:
2:30pm                National Anthem
2:35pm                 Moment of Silence for Cody and other fallen heroes (one minute)
2:40pm                 Color Guard posts the colors
2:50pm                 Opening Remarks (keynote speaker)
3:00pm                 Wreath Laying Ceremony - Horse drawn carriage procession - up to the bronze statue carrying the wreath. Representative places the wreath on the easel. Color Guard presents arms at the laying of each wreath, boyscout volunteers lay wreaths. Different scout for each wreath (7 total) "Now (person's name will lay a holiday wreath in memory...."(script provided need boys' names). After last wreath laid, Color Guard will order arms.
3:15pm                 Closing Remarks (keynote speaker)
3:20pm                 Honoring our employee veterans by name
3:25pm                 Re-enlisting induction ceremony for soldier led by Sgt. Kevin Murphy from Ft. Hood
After:                    Any other veteran groups that want to speak, can.
End:                       Retire the colors, thank everyone, have TAPS played preferably by a trumpet.

Again thank you so much. If you have any suggestions or thoughts please let us know. We want to make sure we properly honor our fallen heroes.

Best Regards,

Margaret

How Do You Explain Wreaths Across America To A Friend Who Has Never Been To The Event? We created a playlist of 3 videos that we often share to explain Wreaths Across America and why it matters, from the perspective of the Founder who started donating wreaths over 20 years ago, from an American Gold Star Mother who lost her son, and from the personal stories of those who serve and sacrifice. This is dedicated to the families of our veterans and members of the active military. We will not forget. We will Never Forget. We hope you will join us in our mission to Remember, Honor, & Teach. Each year at this time, it is always a big push and busy time to manage the last wreath sponsorships going into December's events. We were surprised recently however at a disparity in the numbers. While the numbers are up overall across our 900+ participating locations, the number of wreaths sponsored for Arlington is down. We know a lot of folks who volunteer at Arlington probably do not realize this – it has been more wreaths each year (120,000 in 2012) and we wanted to get this information in the hands of the people who care most about this annual tradition of placing the wreaths. Here's how you can help. Please share the following note by email or with your friends and coworkers. Wreaths Across America was formed in response to a viral email that was sent back in 2005. Perhaps we can do it again – together we can rally support for wreaths that will be placed at Arlington this December 14th on National Wreaths Across America Day. - See more at: http://about.wreathsacrossamerica.org/?s=#sthash.CThembFq.dpuf
