Mr. Brennan,

It is good to hear from you sir. My apology for the delay in responding. I was awaiting the most recent update for the release date of the disparity study and just received pertinent information this afternoon.  A presentation of the final draft disparity study to the Economic Opportunity Committee (EOC) is proposed for Monday, January 11, 2016 at the 2:00 PM meeting at City Hall in the Austin City Council Chambers. A release of the final draft disparity study will be placed on the SMBR website prior to the EOC meeting.  We will notify you when it is uploaded.

We will be conducting subsequent stakeholder meetings after that presentation and prior to  final Council consideration forecasted for June 2016.   The Council will be responsible for making the decision if, when and administratively how a veterans' program will be implemented for the City of Austin.

I am hopeful that your questions have been answered and please feel free to contact me if needed.

Thank you,

Good Morning Debra,

It has been a few years since we met to discuss our initiative with the City of Austin to embrace Disabled Veteran owned business for procurement opportunities. At the time, it was estimated to be a 12 to 15 month time frame to complete the work. We have had inquiries about when we should expect to see the results and hope you can provide a status report that can be communicated to our 600,000 members.

I had an opportunity to visit with Mayor Adler and former Mayor Leffingwell at the Veterans Day parade reviewing stand where we hosted various dignitaries. I mentioned this initiative to the Mayor and he seemed very interested in how it could be implemented. Thanks for your attention to this request and I look forward to your response.
